No worries though, this won't happen again.
This is a new friend I've made this year, Alexis. She's supportive and loyal and honest. She's great.
(All this info is what she sent me word for word)
Name: Alexis
Pronouns: She, Her, Hers
Age: 18
School: Boston Latin Academy
Likes: Boxing. Guitar/Music. Open Minded People. Poetry. Tea. The Fall. Christmas Lights. Dark Colors. Dancing. Peace. Pizza. Making Other People Happy. Debating. Beyonce.
Dislikes: Rude/Ignorant People. Spiders. Negativity. Broken Promises. Stereotypes. Red Peppers. Dishonesty. Ice On The Ground.
About Me: Hayy , I'm Alexis (: I would describe myself as a really positive person. I just try to find the good in every situation or person because I realized negativity doesn't make much progress in my life. Because of that I can seem pretty vulnerable and innocent but that's not entirely true. My passions are boxing, teaching self defense, and hopes of being a Police Officer some day. Im just sick of our generation saying "F" the system instead of trying to "be" the system and change it, and thats what my goal is as of now. Aside from that, I'm so in love with poetry and music, it's something I could never get enough of. I don't like to label myself too often, I really like whoever I like regardless of their identity and those factors. I guess the most important thing to know about me would be that I'm all about living life, surrounding myself with positive people, and doing whatever makes me and those I love happy (:
I thought it was interesting to get a glimpse into the life of Alexis because her and I haven't interacted that much throughout our lives at bla, but do you agree with her when she says that people should try to change the system from the inside instead of saying fuck it, and trying to abolish it?
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping no one would ask me this question because when I first read that statement, I wasn't sure how I felt.
DeleteConflicted.
I say fuck it to pretty much everything, but not because I don't care, but because this society was systematically not made for me.
I would like to be the change, but not break it down from the inside, since, like I said, the system is made for white wealthy able bodied hetero cis guys.
Its hard to dismantle these ideas that have been the basis of our society for soooooooo long.
I'm going to make change my way.
*I meant
DeleteWhite wealthy "neurotypical" "able bodied" hetero cis white guys
I don't really know how I'd get into the system without fitting all this criteria which I most certainly do not
You know what,
DeleteI don't like the way I phrased any of my response to you.
I need to think more about what I want to say and the way I want to say it.
I also need nourishment and a nap.
I'll get back to you on this matter asap,
Sorry Khalil
Lol, well I agree with you. I feel like that statement came from a place of privilege. It's very difficult for the oppressed to change the system from the inside because it wasn't really made for them. So I completely agree.
DeleteBut, I get that she was trying to say we should infiltrate the system and change it from the inside out,
DeleteIt'll just take society a while to let people like me, and many others, break down the building of oppression its created.
(I took a nap, i feel a little better now lol)
Thanks for your question,
I enjoy stimulating discussions such as these :D
