Bad News.

Every time I think society is headed in the right direction or whatever, I'm proved wrong.
Today on tumblr I saw yet another lgbtq+ teen has committed suicide.
Fuck.

Her name was Leelah Alcorn.
She was Trans.
She was rejected by her family.
Sent to conversion therapy and told she was just having a phase.

She walked right into the street to get hit by an oncoming truck.

The Trans life expectancy is only 30 years.
30 fucking years.

A Trans woman is reported murdered every 32 hours.

Black Trans women are murdered more frequently.

How many people have to die until we realize we have to make changes?
Marriage equality is great.
But what about some fucking safety??

How about acceptance and loving everyone?

Why is it hard to do that?

  1. I heard about this just the other day, it was very upsetting to hear her being misgendered on the news and in articles. As if they could not respect her last wishes. I just signed the petition to have her tombstone properly named and gendered yesterday.

  2. Use this as motovation to keep fighting for that which we all deserve no matter who you are... The freedom to be ourselves. Dont let her death be in vain. All we can do is mourn move on and keep fighting. Keep strong and move on while still fighting. Im sorry if i sound repetitive but i just hate when people drive others to such a point.

  3. Me too, people refuse to accept the truth just to make themselves comfortable.
Scared and confused, they'd prefer to be ignorant.
That's great, I need to sign that too.

Same Jessica, this type of shit hurts my soul.

No worries Bey, no need to apologize.
Its true, we do need to keep fighting while keeping the spirits of the people who have fallen in our hearts and mind,
Use their deaths motivate us to never let something like this happen again
We need to keep taking action

  4. Situations like these are absolutely heart breaking. Everyone deserves a chance at life, why does it matter if you're different?
I think it's odd how people in society encourage you to be different, be yourself, be unique, yet once you do, they badger you and torture you until you're just like them.
