This evening was Trans Day Of Remembrance, a candle light vigil and memorial.
I was in charge of the volunteers for TDOR, all my friends came and helped out, it was a beautiful ceremony.
But, it was really sad, you know? All those people who died--who were killed, just because they were Trans. They wanted to live their lives as they were, and were killed for it.
I won't live my life in fear, I'm going to continue to be brave.
The majority of the names we read out, were Trans women from Brazil specifically.
This is a serious problem that the media, that society, that not a lot of people know about or shown. Over 100,000 lives lost to Anti Transgender violence.
Some of the names, well that's just it, some people didn't even have names, just,
"Unknown Woman (16 years old) Teresina, Piaui, Brazil"
Seriously???
People are fucking dying!
Their lives lost, but not forgotten.
At least not to me.
To all of those who lost their lives, your light lives on.
I love how you are spreading the word to help people on the internet know what happens when people want to live their live but are killed to do so by other people who doesn't accept the idea of Trans.
